Derivation of model

Overview

With Next Design, trace information can be automatically recorded by creating a post-process model by inputting the pre-process model. The act of creating a model while associating it with an input model is called Derivation.

There are two ways to derive the model.

  • Displaying derivable models side by side in the main editor and sub-editors, and using one model to derive the other
  • How to derive a model using the model shown in the Input tab of the toolbox

Below, we will focus on the former method and explain the latter method.

Derive model from input model

To derive model components from the input model when editing the model:

Derive model from input model

Operating procedure

  1. Display the models to be input side by side according to the above Modeling across processes> Two-screen display of model.
  2. Point to the component of the model to be the input and drag the [+] icon displayed in the upper right of the model to the model to be edited.
  3. While dragging on the model to be edited, drop it on the position where the thick frame indicating the addition destination is displayed.
  4. If there are multiple candidate entities that can be added, a choice will pop up. In that case, select the entity to add from the options.
  5. As new components are added to the model being edited, derivation relationships are recorded between those components and trace lines are displayed between editors.

You can also derive model components using the following procedure.

Other operating procedures

  1. Display the model to be edited in the editor.
  2. Click the editing area of the editor to display a tree view of the model components that can be input in the [Input] tab of the toolbox.
  3. Select the input model component from the tree and drag and drop it on the editor.

Note

  • If the [+] icon is not displayed in the upper right even when you point to a model component, click in the editing area of the editor and then point.
  • If you don't see trace lines between editors, make sure the Display> Editor> Trace Lines checkbox on the ribbon is checked.
